When your engine runs out of gas, you could lose control of your braking and steering, no matter where you are on the road. If this happens regularly, lasting damage could occur, and you’ll have problems restarting your vehicle.

If you seem to be running out quickly, here is how you can drive more fuel-efficiently.

You should be checking the oil levels of your vehicle before any long trips or every few weeks. Driving with low oil levels can cause serious damage to the moving parts of your vehicle's engine. Oil is designed to provide lubrication and too much friction can lead to excessive wear and tear. So, if you’re hearing loud clunking and knocking noises, you should get to a mechanic as soon as possible.

You can check that your oil levels are between the minimum and maximum levels using your car's dipstick and adjust if necessary.

Checking the rubber of your tires and wiper blades regularly can help prevent blowouts and the likelihood of collisions. Look out for splits and bulges, as well as the tread depth and tire pressure.
